Southern Style Dry Spice Mix
This Southern Dry Spice recipe is based on what some believe may be Colonel Sanders original recipe, and who knows this could be true, but the reality is we will never know as the only known original signed copy of the recipe by Colonel Sanders is in a safe inside a vault in KFC’s Louisville headquarters.
What I can tell you about this mixture of herbs and spices is it certainly conveys some of the distinctive flavour that lovers of Kentucky Fried Chicken like, and I use it in my Southern Fried Chicken Recipe, It also gives great flavour when liberally sprinkled and rubbed onto chicken or chicken portions before roasting in the oven.
The beauty of a dry spice mix like this is you can make a batch and store it in a container to have on hand at any time, I’ve found it to be a valuable addition to my spice rack.
It is possible, in fact I would encourage adjusting quantity of the spices to adjust the flavour to something that suits you, white pepper seems to be a key ingredient that comes through well and contributes to the KFC style flavour we all know.
